Meryl Holt Silverman is a litigation associate and a member of the White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group. Her practice focuses on internal investigations, regulatory inquiries and complex civil litigation. She has briefed and argued cases in the Second Circuit and the Southern District of New York, as well as in the New York State Appellate Division, First Department and the New York State Supreme Court.
Before joining Debevoise, Ms. Holt Silverman served as the New York City Corporation Counsel Honors Fellow under Corporation Counsel Zachary W. Carter from 2016 to 2017. She clerked for the Hon. Joel M. Flaum of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit from 2015 to 2016.
Ms. Holt Silverman received her J.D./M.B.A. from Harvard University, both with honors, in 2015. Prior to graduate school, she served in President Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers as Special Assistant to Chairman Austan Goolsbee and Director of Strategic Initiatives from 2010 to 2011. She received a B.A. from Stanford University with honors, distinction and Phi Beta Kappa in 2009.
Ms. Holt Silverman is admitted to appear before the Second and Seventh Circuits, and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Civil Rights Committee and sits on the Committee on Character and Fitness for the New York State Appellate Division, First Department.
