
Michael J. Album is a partner in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Group, and represents companies and compensation committees, private equity firms and hedge funds, and CEOs, senior executives (in numerous business sectors) and portfolio managers on a full range of executive compensation matters.
Michael also is co-head of the Non-Compete & Trade Secrets Group, which is an interdisciplinary group that represents clients on non-compete, trade secret and intellectual property matters.
In addition to his executive compensation practice, he is experienced in analyzing business operations and transactions, and advising employers and private equity funds and other buyers of businesses on various ways to reduce labor risks and costs.
Michael also advises companies on “contingent workforce” issues, and on a range of international labor and employment matters relating to compensation and workforce issues.
Michael has written and spoken extensively in the area of executive compensation. He recently co-authored the lead article in the 2012 Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst – Global Compensation Study, titled “Human Capital Considerations For Maturing Private Equity Firms”.
His other articles have appeared in The Business Lawyer, New York Law Journal, Employment Relations Today, Venture Capital Review and other legal publications and he has been a featured speaker on executive compensation developments at ALI-ABA, Dow Jones Private Equity and other webinars and seminars.
He also has been featured in interviews in Private Equity Manager on topics relating to private equity compensation and portfolio company matters. In addition, Michael has contributed chapters on MBO compensation issues to two publications (Private Equity Mathematics and Human Capital in Private Equity).
He also is the co-author of The Employment Law Compliance Handbook (Executive Enterprises Publications) and co-editor of New York State Employment Laws and Regulations (Business Council of New York State).
Michael has served on the Board of Directors of the Yale Law School Fund, and from 1999 to 2000, he served as co-Chairman of his 20th Reunion Class Campaign for the Yale Law School Fund.
