Mike’s litigation experience is extensive and wide-ranging. He has successfully defended copyright, trademark, municipal, employment, educational, commercial, construction, and bodily injury claims in state and federal courts and on appeals. He defends complex insurance coverage and bad faith claims ranging from automobile accidents to billion-dollar demands on nine-figure coverage towers.
Mike also has significant experience in overseeing and coordinating fraud investigations pertaining to automobile accident claims and leading special investigations units (SIU), and he regularly defends no-fault, uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM), and liability claims.
As a transactional attorney, Mike provides strategic advice concerning intellectual property and risk management to both individual and institutional clients in a variety of sectors. He routinely advises on the retention of insurance policies and management of copyright and trademark portfolios, and provides targeted advice on defamation and publicity/privacy concerns.
Mike earned his J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law, where he was a member of the University of Miami Business Law Review, a research assistant focusing on copyright and communications law, a Student Bar Association senator, and the law school’s representative to the University of Miami Trustees’ Student Affairs Committee. Before entering law school, Mike earned a B.F.A. in film production, history, and theory from Syracuse University.
An artist and filmmaker, he has worked on numerous film sets and in the commercial art industry. Also a former educator, Mike frequently lectures and presents on insurance, intellectual property, and general liability issues to a wide range of businesses, schools, and nonprofit groups.
