Michael E. Wagner is an associate in the Construction Practice Group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Wagner’s practice includes the representation of owners, developers, design professionals, general contractors, and subcontractors in complex construction, design, and surety-related disputes on both public and private projects.
Mr. Wagner counsels clients on mechanic’s liens, payment and performance bond matters, delay and impact claims, design errors and omissions, subcontractor disputes, and construction defects. Mr. Wagner also assists clients in preparing and prosecuting requests for equitable adjustment and claims against government agencies (local, state and federal), and advises clients on contract drafting and negotiation, and issues that arise during project delivery.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Wagner was employed by a general contractor where he was involved in preconstruction and project and risk management for multiple commercial and government construction projects. Mr. Wagner has extensive experience on projects involving heavy-civil, roads, highways, and utility work. Mr. Wagner also gained substantive construction experience working for an electrical subcontractor.
A native of the Washington, D.C. area, Mr. Wagner attended Gonzaga College High School, received his Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude in Finance and Business Management from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmittsburg, Maryland, and obtained his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Wagner joins Seyfarth Shaw after five years of practice at a construction and government contracts boutique in Washington, D.C.
