Michael William Fires is a litigation associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Fires assists clients on a variety of matters relating to white-collar defense, congressional investigations, policy initiatives and the political appointments process.
Mr. Fires received his J.D. cum laude in 2018 from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an executive editor of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics and a member of the appellate advocacy moot court team. Prior to joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, he served as a legal intern to Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Mr. Fires graduated from Emory University in 2015 with highest honors in political science, and he also majored in history. While in college, Mr. Fires served as a deputy field director for a presidential campaign and as an intern at the Southern Center for Human Rights. He was a member of Akin Gump’s 2017 Summer Associate Class.
