Michael Galgano

Michael R. Galgano focuses his practice on patent litigation and post-grant proceedings, primarily in the biotechnological and pharmaceutical areas. He concentrates on Hatch-Waxman litigation related to Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA).

Mike is involved in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation analysis, discovery, and claim construction. His experience includes drafting pleadings, coordinating discovery, preparing expert reports, and handling day-to-day litigation activities.

Mike also focuses on inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His experience includes developing validity positions, preparing written submissions, and working with expert witnesses.

While in law school, Mike was an extern for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In his following years at law school, he also worked as a summer associate and law clerk at Finnegan, assisting in matters before federal district courts as well as the PTAB.

While earning his graduate degree at George Mason University, Mike concentrated his research on the zoonotic effect of infectious diseases. During his tenure at Mason, he was also a graduate teacher assistant and instructed cellular biology labs.

Mike maintains an active pro bono practice. He has successfully represented clients in various matters, including landlord/tenant disputes and veteran’s appeals. He is listed on the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll.
