Michael J. Kopsick manages the litigation department of the law firm, Kahan, Kerensky & Capossela, LLP. He focuses his practice on areas such as Business & Commercial Law, Litigation & Appeals, Legal Malpractice, represents the employer in the Employment Law, Debtor and Creditor Rights, Foreclosures and Collection, Personal Injury.
He has acquired admission to practice law in the year 1988 and 1989 before the United States Tax Court, the state bars of both New York and Connecticut, the U.S. District Court of Connecticut, the Eastern & Southern District Courts of New York.
Michael Kopsick gives lectures frequently on the topics of employment practices and business litigation in front of the bar and professional organizations. He is a member of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Litigation Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.
He is the Director and Incorporator at the Tolland Education Foundation. He is also a member of the Tolland High School Building Committee. He is a Board Member of the CBA Resolution of Legal Fee Disputes. He is a Member of the Business Torts Committee of the Hartford County Bar Association.
He is a member of the Tolland County Bar Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association – Member, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
He served as an Arbitrator and a Member Roster of Neutrals at The American Arbitration Association during the period 2007 – 2015. He worked as an Associate at the law firm, Ford Marrin Esposito Witmeyer & Gleser, LLP in the year 1988 – 1989. He joined his current firm, Kahan, Kerensky & Capossela, LLP in 1989.
He completed Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude with major in English from the University of New Hampshire. He attended Western New England College School of Law to obtain his Doctor of Jurisprudence, Magna Cum Laude, in 1988. He secured permission to practice in California and New York in 1988 and 1989 respectively.
