Michael W. Davis received his J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law, and a business finance degree from the University of Florida. Michael is a business and insolvency litigator. Michael represents businesses and individuals in complex civil and commercial lawsuits, and in the insolvency context, he represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, and chapter 7 and 11 trustees in both individual and corporate cases, as well as court-appointed receivers.
Michael has a wide-range of advocacy experience in courts throughout California, including California district courts, the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and California Superior and Appellate courts. His litigation successes have resulted in a number of favorable published opinions.
Michael is also the current Co-Chair of the Young Professionals Council (YPC) of the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Receivers Forum. The California Receivers Forum is a non-profit organization formed by interested receivers, attorneys, accountants, real estate brokers, property managers and other insolvency professionals with support from the Los Angeles Superior Court, to address the needs and concerns of receivers, to facilitate communication between the receivership community and the courts, and to assist in raising the level of professionalism of receivers throughout the state.
Michael has been recognized as a Southern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2016-2018. Michael is also a regular pro bono volunteer for Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County and was awarded the 2017 William J. Lasarow Award. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of bankruptcy pro bono volunteers who offer their time and assistance to individuals who have nowhere else to turn for legal representation.
