Michael O. Wolfson advises on leveraged buyouts and private equity investments, secondary private equity investments (including limited partner and “firm” investments), mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and equity offerings in the international capital markets.
Mike’s practice spans a variety of industries, including energy, telecommunications and cable networks, technology, real property, financial services, packaging, transportation, pharmaceuticals, and media and entertainment. Clients he has represented include Blackstone, Apax, Silver Lake, GSO, Carlyle, Sterling Partners and Snow Phipps.
Mike’s recent transactions have included Silver Lake in its acquisition of ZPG plc (Zoopla) and in its acquisition of control of CEGID Group in France, Radial in its sale to bpost, IO Data in its sale to Iron Mountain, Daily News in its sale to Tronc, and Warburg Pincus in its acquisition of VistaPharm and the launch of Vertice Pharma, LLC.
Mike has also represented Blackstone in numerous investments, acquisitions and exit transactions, including its Blackstone-Led consortium partnership with Thomson Reuters for Thompson Reuters’ F&R business; its investments in TaskUs, Versace, Industrie De Nora, Mime Petroleum and Siccar Point; its announced sale of Intelenet, its acquisition of Mphasis, and its acquisition and IPO exit of Intertrust. Additionally, Mike has represented Blackstone Strategic Partners, as well as other investors and PE firms, in secondary private equity investments, and acquisitions and minority investments/sales.
Mike joined Simpson Thacher in New York in 1989 and was located in the Firm’s London office from 1998 to 2016. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Colgate University in 1986, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1989. He is a member of the New York Bar.
