Alden Law Group is proud to announce that Michelle F. Bercovici became a Partner on January 1, 2016. She has been practicing law with the Alden Law Group, PLLC, and its predecessor, Kraft Eisenmann Alden, PLLC, since May of 2007.
Since joining the firm, Ms. Bercovici has worked on a variety of employment discrimination, Merit Systems Protection Board, and labor law cases under federal and state laws. Ms. Bercovici has also worked on matters relating to ERISA compliance and employee benefit plans.
Ms. Bercovici earned her J.D., cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law in May 2007. While in law school, Ms. Bercovici served as a staff member on the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law.
Ms. Bercovici also received the Washington College of Law Award for her commitment to public service in founding a program to train college students to provide after-hours client services at a food pantry and financial assistance center in Carrboro, North Carolina.
During law school, Ms. Bercovici completed a legal clerkship in the Office of General Counsel at the National Treasury Employees Union, where she worked on a variety of federal labor law issues. Ms. Bercovici also served as a summer law clerk in the Federal Sector Hearings Unit of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Washington Field Office.
In 2004, Ms. Bercovici received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History with honors and distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While an undergraduate, she participated in the Honors Program, was inducted into the Order of the Old Well (UNC’s honorary society recognizing distinguished service to the community), and was awarded the George Kachergis Memorial Scholarship in art.
Ms. Bercovici is admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. In July 2010, Ms. Bercovici was elected to serve a three year term on the Steering Committee of the DC Bar Labor & Employment Law Section (“LELS”). Ms. Bercovici also serves as the Chair of the Federal Sector Subcommittee of the DC Bar LELS.
Ms. Bercovici is an active member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Labor and Employment Law and Section of Litigation; the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA); the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association; and the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee.
