Michelle Muñoz-Machen is an Associate at Fragomen’s New York office, where she advises clients on employment-based temporary and permanent visa categories and family-based permanent residence applications.
She has experience representing a range of clients, including individuals and Fortune 500 companies, in a variety of employment-based and family-based immigration matters.
Michelle previously worked in Fragomen’s London office, where she assisted with consular and petition-based matters for applicants across the EMEA region, including individuals with extraordinary ability, treaty investors, specialist employees, intracompany transfers and other professionals.
In addition, she assisted with immigrant visa applications at the U.S. Embassy in London for families relocating to the U.S. She worked with clients in various industries, including investment management, recruiting, marketing and technology.
She also has experience advising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on the appropriate immigration vehicles for transferring qualified employees to newly established U.S. offices. This advice focused primarily on the E-2 treaty investor program, including guidance on the requisite corporate and financial documentation.
Prior to joining Fragomen, Michelle worked at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in the Immigrant Affairs Program within the Special Prosecutions Bureau, where she assisted with investigation and prosecution of individuals committing crimes of fraud against members of the immigrant community in New York City.
She also worked at the City Bar Justice Center, where she assisted survivors of violent crimes, domestic violence and human trafficking with obtaining appropriate relief under the U and T visa programs and permanent residence under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
Michelle has provided pro bono assistance to help children apply for permanent residence based on asylum status.
Michelle speaks English, French and Spanish.
EXPERIENCE:
- Assisted prominent professionals in business and the arts with securing O-1 visa classification.
- Secured the approval of intracompany transfer petitions after complex issues were raised in requests for additional evidence by USCIS, including demonstration of specialized knowledge and documentation of complicated corporate relationships.
