Miguel A. Lopez has a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics and focuses his practice on intellectual property law, patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation support.
Miguel is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has drafted and prosecuted foreign and domestic patent applications in a variety of fields including biomedical technologies, small and large molecule therapeutics, life science applications, stem cells, vaccines, medical devices and mechanical devices.
He also has experience in conducting and assisting with the drafting of patentability searches, freedom to operate opinions, and invalidity opinions. Miguel also assists in a variety of intellectual property litigation matters including with discovery and document review, and the preparation of claim charts and exhibits.
Miguel has significant experience in various aspects of technology transfer and has worked extensively with academic researchers and biomedical start-ups.
As a researcher, Miguel has published several journal articles and has been the recipient of several national grants and fellowships. While in graduate school, one of Miguel’s articles was recognized by PLOS Pathogens, a major scientific journal, as one of the top 42 most influential papers of the decade for its impact and influence on progressing scientific research.
