Mihai M. Vrasmasu has gained the trust of numerous clients facing complex product liability claims involving prescription drugs, surgical devices and medical implants. Over the years, he has developed a well-deserved reputation as an aggressive and thorough lawyer who goes the extra mile to ensure the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Mihai has extensive experience defending Fortune 100 pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers from case inception through resolution and appeal. He efficiently manages complex and voluminous discovery, and has taken and defended countless depositions of various witnesses—including medical experts and treating physicians—in high-stakes cases across the country.
Mihai has also argued numerous complex motions before state and federal courts and, as head of a legal issues and briefing trial team in the Boston Scientific pelvic mesh litigation, was praised in open court by the presiding federal judge for his excellent research and writing skills. Mihai was a member of the national teams that effectively defended the Bausch & Lomb Renu contact lens solution litigation, as well as the Pfizer hormone replacement therapy and Reglan litigation. He was also instrumental in defending cases for various other companies including Zimmer and Stryker.
In 2017, Mihai was seconded to Bayer, where he spent nearly a year working as in-house counsel. While at Bayer, he gained valuable perspective regarding the unique challenges faced by multinational companies involved in complex product liability litigation.
After returning to Shook in 2018, Mihai resumed his involvement in the Boston Scientific pelvic mesh litigation, among other matters.
Mihai also provides litigation risk assessments and other consulting services to surgical robot manufacturers. Since 2015, he has written about emerging legal trends and developments in clinical robotics in the Clinical Robotics Law Journal.
