Mike Shanlever is a construction attorney experienced in transactional and litigation aspects of complex projects, as well as commercial real estate transactions and disputes. Mike regularly drafts, reviews, and advises clients regarding general contracts, subcontracts, construction management agreements, design agreements, bond documents and lien documents.
Mike advises owners, general contractors, and subcontractors as issues arise in commercial negotiations and on projects, often counseling project personnel and management prior to litigation with respect to project delay, acceleration, scope changes, change orders, and defective design/construction claims.
Mike manages teams of lawyers and staff members in all aspects of litigation, including electronic discovery, depositions, dispositive motion practice, and evidentiary proceedings. He routinely appears in state and federal courts throughout the country, as well as alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediations, arbitration proceedings, and settlement negotiations.
Mike earned his J.D. in 2004 from Vanderbilt University and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Auburn University in 2000. Mike is a member of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry’s Design Division, and is currently serving as a board member of the Atlanta Community ToolBank.
