Monica Rodriguez is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ms. Rodriguez has represented clients of various backgrounds, including hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, and retail. Ms. Rodriguez’s practice has a strong focus in traditional labor and employment litigation.
She has effectively defended employers against unfair labor practice charges and managed strike related matters. Ms. Rodriguez has also assisted in developing lawful union avoidance plans, training management teams in the skills and knowledge necessary to avoid unionization, and lawfully responding to active organizing campaigns.
Additionally, Ms. Rodriguez defends employers in lawsuits alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, as well as wage and hour violations. Ms. Rodriguez has extensive experience drafting employer policies, providing pay equity best practices, and conducting internal investigations. Furthermore, Ms. Rodriguez is a part of the firm’s Pro Bono department, providing legal services and advocacy to the underserved.
Ms. Rodriguez joined the firm initially as part of the Labor & Employment Department’s Fellowship program, an innovative training-focused program for law students and recent graduates with an affinity for labor and employment law. She has thus gained vital training and experience drafting position statements, summary judgment moving papers, motions to compel, demurrers, removals, petitions to compel arbitration, motions in limine and other critical employment litigation briefs.
While in law school, Ms. Rodriguez served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Rodriguez also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Michael L. Stern and the Honorable Teresa Sanchez-Gordon of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
