
Monroe “Mike” Kelly, III has more than 25 years of experience in the representation of commercial banks and other financial institutions, with extensive involvement in commercial and real estate loan documentation, asset based lending, automotive dealer finance, letters of credit, problem loan workouts, creditors’ rights, bankruptcies, reorganizations, lender liability litigation, bank operations and deposit and collection procedures.
He also has extensive experience in commercial real estate development, including golf course acquisition, operation and financing. Mr. Kelly represents several national and regional companies in the financial services industry. He frequently speaks to loan officers of various banks and financial institutions on lending procedures and documentation, loan loss and lender liability avoidance, problem loan workout procedures, and bankruptcies and reorganizations.
Mr. Kelly is a member of the Virginia State Bar and its Business and Bankruptcy Law Sections. He is a member of the American, Virginia, Virginia Beach and Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Kelly received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
