Moreshwar Vaze, practices in the area of intellectual property law with a focus on patent law in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He has over five years of experience in helping clients with patent procurement, including domestic and foreign patent preparation and procurement, and patent portfolio management.
He performs for the clients patent landscape searches, freedom-to-operate analyses, preparing non-infringement and invalidity opinions. He participated in helping clients with patent licensing and intellectual property due diligence for transactions. His prior experience as a scientist in biotechnology industry provides him with a deep understanding of how biotechnology industry functions.
Dr. Vaze has experience in intellectual property litigation, including Patent and Trade Secret Litigation. In Patent Litigation, Dr. Vaze has experience in searching prior art, and developing invalidity and non-infringement contentions. In Trade Secret Litigation, Dr. Vaze has experience in analysis of trade secret lists, public domain searches, and comparison of trade secrets with alleged use.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Dr. Vaze worked for about two decades in startup and small biotech companies and academic institutions. Most recently, Dr. Vaze was Director in a biotechnology company, where he worked on development of a novel platform for the delivery of RNAi therapeutic.
Prior to that, he worked as a research scientist and group leader in a mid-sized pharmaceutical company where he worked on lead optimization and target identification of a small molecule oncology drug.
Before that, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Brandeis University. Dr. Vaze has co-authored thirteen papers and is a co-inventor on two U.S. patents and a European patent.
Dr. Vaze earned Ph.D. degree in from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He received an M.Sc. in Biotechnology, from Madurai Kamaraj University in India, and a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology, from the University of Pune, India. Dr. Vaze graduated from Suffolk University Law School with a J.D., cum laude, in 2018, with a Distinction in Intellectual Property Law.
