Nathaniel’s practice focuses on civil appeals and writs in state and federal courts. He is responsible for all aspects of appellate litigation, including assessment of issues on appeal, drafting appellate briefs and motions, oral argument and partnering with trial counsel to preserve issues for appellate review.
He has argued successfully before the California Court of Appeal, and has been the principal author of briefs filed with several California appellate courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Courts of California and Nevada.
Nathaniel defends class action claims asserted against large consumer-product manufacturers for property damage and personal injury in both federal and state courts. His experience extends to all aspects of litigation, including pleadings and pleading attacks, dispositive motions, motions for class certification and trial.
Nathaniel has defended multiple class actions against a major automobile manufacturer alleging product defects and violations of consumer protection laws, and has defended a leading plumbing-products manufacturer in construction defect class actions.
He also advises corporate clients on a broad range of issues, including foreign defendants’ challenges to personal jurisdiction of US courts and compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
