Nathaniel M. Cartmell IV helps clients anticipate, answer, and resolve the challenges imposed by federal and state regulation and enforcement with an eye to achieving the best possible result. Nate works with financial services clients across the country, particularly in the area of reverse mortgages, to ensure compliance with the myriad state and federal regulations impacting their businesses.
He is as comfortable working to prevent liability, through efforts such as designing and implementing effective policies and procedures or standardized litigation templates, as he is developing an effective response to agency oversight in matters as diverse as fair housing or insurance reimbursement.
Relatedly, Nate has experience helping clients respond to internal or external investigations of their business practices in areas such as mortgage insurance, healthcare, and accounting fraud.
A fourth-generation lawyer, Nate joined the firm’s Birmingham office immediately following law school. He is a regular contributor to Bradley’s Financial Services Perspectives blog.
Before attending law school, Nate taught English in Paris, France, to local students. After returning to the United States, he worked as an equity research analyst building discounted cash flow valuation models and later led a team of client managers at a third-party investment performance company serving a Fortune 50 client.
