Nelson Kuo Hua Lee focuses his practice on Criminal Defense, Immigration, and Litigation. He serves as a partner in the law firm named Lee & Lee, PS based in Seattle, Washington. He holds the license to practice law in the state of Washington since the year 1994.
Before starting a private practice, he served as a Senior Deputy Prosecutor with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for almost 17 years and successfully tried more than 100 cases before the jury. He also prosecuted many complex and high-profile cases while working there.
In 2010, he started his law firm to provide legal services to his community, under-served immigrants and other diverse clients. He speaks Mandarin and Japanese languages fluently and has strong personal and professional ties to the Asian community in the Pacific Northwest.
He has worked on several civil matters and also resolved successfully in his clients’ favor. He has also achieved a six-figure settlement in a personal injury suit against a local government entity.
When he is not working, he dedicates his time to pro bono activities, teaching, and leadership in local organizations. He serves as a pro tempore judge for the cities of Lake Forest Park and Federal Way. He also regularly volunteers at the International District Legal Clinic.
Attorney Nelson Lee has previously served as an adjunct professor in trial advocacy at the University of Washington and Seattle University and has coached moot court and trial advocacy contestants, including the participants of the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition.
He has also served as a board member and officer of many local organizations. He is the former president and board member of the Asian Bar Association of Washington as well as the legal advisor to the Hong Kong Association of Washington.
The National Association of Distinguished Counsel has honored him as with Top One Percent Award. The Des Moines Police Department granted him the Certificate of Appreciation in 2006.
He also received the Best Lawyer Under 40 award from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association in 2004. The Washington State Bar Association has given him Pro Bono Service Commendation in 2010, 2013, and 2015.
Nelson Kuo Hua Lee obtained his Juris Doctorate from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 1993. Before studying law, he completed his Bachelors in Arts from Boston College in 1990.
