Nicholas A. Danella concentrates his practice on complex and appellate litigation throughout the federal and state court systems. Nick has handled a broad spectrum of litigation matters, including cases involving commercial issues, the False Claims Act, and contract disputes.
He also has experience in antitrust and competition, sports law, federal and state constitutional issues, statutory interpretation, arbitration, tax, admiralty, class actions, bankruptcy, medical malpractice, and products liability. In addition, Nick has provided clients with strategic advice regarding a wide range of business practices.
In particular, Nick focuses on legal briefing and strategy, motion practice, and appeals. He regularly works as the “appellate counsel at trial,” with responsibility for briefing legal issues, including dispositive motions, Daubert/Frye motions, motions in limine, and in-trial motions and bench briefs.
For example, Nick was part of a litigation team that was engaged in a month-long products liability trial in Pennsylvania state court, and another team that was engaged in a two-month False Claims Act trial against the U.S. Department of Justice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
Nick has also worked on appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court, Eleventh, Sixth, Second, Third and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Alabama Supreme Court, and the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, as well as the Texas Supreme Court and the Maryland Court of Appeals. In addition, he has filed numerous briefs in federal district and state trial courts.
Nick joined Bradley after several years of litigation experience at a national law firm in New York and Los Angeles. He also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Jacqueline H. Nguyen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Michael W. Fitzgerald on the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
