Mr. Richards is a Denver tax attorney representing individuals and businesses in tax audits, trials and collections throughout Colorado, California and the U.S. He joins Dill & Dill after six years of successfully representing taxpayers and eleven years as an IRS trial attorney.
While at the IRS, he was a leading trial attorney, an advisor to the IRS Chief Counsel, a lead program attorney, an IRS instructor, and he represented the IRS in bankruptcy court as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
With his broad experience and understanding at all phases of the tax system, from reporting and assessment through IRS Appeals, Tax Court, and tax debt resolution, Nick achieves successful legal solutions tailored to his individual client’s needs.
Nick also teaches tax attorneys and CPAs throughout the US and he is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Denver, Graduate Tax Program, where he teaches State and Local Tax and Civil and Criminal Tax.
He is licensed to practice law in California and Colorado and is admitted before the US Tax Court, Colorado and California state courts, and several Federal District Courts.
Nick is also a member of the California and Colorado State Bars, the CTLA, the ABA Tax Section, the NCIA, NCBA, the Future Tax Leaders, and the Colorado Bar Association Cannabis Law Committee.
