Nick Colic counsels clients in various industries on patent law in the mechanical and electrical technologies, including prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, management of international patent portfolios, freedom-to-operate investigations, and infringement and validity opinions.

He assists clients in many areas of patent litigation, including drafting initial pleadings, drafting and responding to written discovery, facilitating the collection, production, and review of documents, taking and defending depositions, drafting and responding to claim construction briefs, drafting contentions related to validity and infringement, working with technical experts, and drafting pre-trial statements.

Nick litigates patent infringement cases in various federal trial courts and counsels clients in several industries. He has also represented both petitioners and patent owners in administrative proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

He is a co-founder and contributor to Drinker Biddle’s PTAB Trial Blog. Prior to his law career, Nick worked as a mechanical engineer in the automotive group of Motorola Inc.
