Nicole N. King is an associate in Venable’s Commercial Litigation Practice in the Los Angeles office. Prior to joining Venable, Nicole was an associate at a nationally known law firm, where she prosecuted and defended civil lawsuits in state and federal courts.
She focused her practice on commercial, financial services, employment, and fiduciary litigation. Nicole disposed of cases on demurrer, motions to dismiss, and summary judgment. She negotiated pretrial settlements and resolved litigation through mediation and mandatory settlement conferences.
Nicole has also handled appellate matters before the California Courts of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. In 2010, Nicole was a family law public interest fellow at the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law, where she handled matters for pro per clients pursuing paternity, dissolution, and domestic violence actions.
Nicole also worked in the office of Congresswoman Barbara Lee, where she drafted text for H.R. 6255, The Next Steps for Haiti Act of 2008, and obtained co-sponsorship for its introduction in the U.S. House of Representatives in June 2008.
In addition, Nicole conducted outreach to gain member co-sponsorship and placement on the floor calendar for a vote that resulted in the passage of a bill recognizing the significance of Caribbean American Heritage Month.
