
Oded Burger, an associate in the firm’s Toxic Tort and Intellectual Property Practice Groups, has nearly a decade of experience handling high-value toxic tort litigation involving a wide range of complex scientific issues. He also dedicates a significant portion of his practice to advising clients on managing and monetizing intellectual property and protecting it in state and federal courts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
In the realm of toxic torts, Oded has represented numerous clients across a variety of industries, including serving as regional trial counsel for a Fortune 500 automotive manufacturer.
His litigation experience encompasses all aspects of pre-trial case management, including fact investigations, taking and defending depositions, and engaging in settlement conferences, as well as the preparation of doctors, experts, and corporate representatives for trial and deposition testimony.
He has also authored numerous successful and critical motions, including multiple post-trial motions to set aside verdicts based on plaintiffs’ failure to meet scientific causation standards.
As an intellectual property counselor and litigator, Oded has helped clients to secure trademark rights through prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has also drafted a wide range of transactional documents involving intellectual property, including production services agreements, motion picture options, and record deals.
A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Oded also gained valuable IP experience as a member of the school’s Incubator and Policy Clinic, where he drafted patent applications and invention assignment agreements for technology startups in the fields of wireless telecommunications, social media, home furnishings, and computer networking.
Oded earned a B.A. in Biochemistry from New York University, with Minors in Physics and Mathematics. He went on to earn his J.D. at Brooklyn Law School, with a Certificate in IP, Media, and Information Law. He also has significant experience in computer programming, system administration, and cybersecurity, and taught on these topics as an adjunct faculty member of New York University’s School of Professional Studies.
