Olivia Minnis is an associate immigration attorney primarily concentrating in business and employment-based immigration as well as PERM labor certification applications. Olivia has experience representing both corporations and individual clients in a variety of immigration matters, with a particular focus on E-2 treaty investment visas, L-1A intracompany transferee visas and I-140 immigrant petitions.
Olivia received her law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2015. She focused her studies on immigration and international law, earning the Certificate in International and Comparative Law.
In 2014, she interned for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, where she assisted attorneys in Immigration Court and conducted legal research on a broad range of immigration issues. Since graduating, Olivia has focused her career solely on immigration and enjoys helping individuals as well as businesses achieve their immigration goals.
Olivia received her B.A in English Literature, Psychology and Iberian Studies from Florida State University in 2010, earning the Global Pathways Certificate for her demonstrated interest in international studies and the importance of intercultural competence. Between 2010 and 2011, she interned for the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service in the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain.
There, she assisted in processing immigrant and nonimmigrant visas and gained a unique perspective of consular processing and consular officer interviews. Olivia’s experience working for the U.S. Embassy instilled in her a profound desire to serve individuals seeking to immigrate to the United States, whether to settle permanently, stay temporarily, study or work.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Olivia served as an immigration associate for a Miami immigration practice, where she gained valuable experience preparing PERM labor certification applications as the leading PERM attorney. Throughout her career, building a relationship with each of her clients has always been very important to Olivia. For most clients, the immigration process is a very personal experience, whether the individual be pursuing an immigrant or a non-immigrant classification.
By the same token, Olivia invests herself in each case and approaches each client representation with a sincere interest in finding solutions and helping the client achieve their goals. She believes that taking the time to understand each client’s particular U.S. immigration needs and providing clear and realistic expectations is the foundation of a successful client representation.
