Pascale Bibi

Pascale Bibi is member of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Pascale Bibi’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation matters and white-collar defense. She has represented corporations, directors and financial institutions in securities, shareholder derivative, bankruptcy, and general commercial litigation, including in state and federal courts.

Pascale has acted on behalf of major financial institutions and multinational corporations in connection with regulatory enquiries and internally identified issues in relation to a variety of subject matters, including securities regulation, corruption, and white-collar matters.

She has experience representing clients before a variety of domestic and international authorities, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as the UK Serious Fraud Office and Financial Conduct Authority.

She was also a member of a team that successfully litigated a Voting Rights Act Section 2 claim in Jones County, North Carolina, leading to the implementation of a new electoral map for the 2018 elections.

Pascale joined the firm in 2013. From 2013 to 2014, she was resident in the Washington office.

EXPERIENCE:

• Citigroup and various affiliates in lawsuits arising out of the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme, In re Irving H. Picard and In re Fairfield Sentry Ltd.
• Citi Hedge Fund Services in obtaining dismissal, in both the district court and on appeal, of purported class actions seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in connection with the collapse of Madoff “feeder” hedge funds, In re Kingate Mgm’t Ltd.
• National Amusements Inc., the controlling stockholder of Viacom Inc., in its actions that removed five members of Viacom’s board of directors and elected five new members to fill the vacancies created by the removals.
• Internal investigation for a Brazilian Bank into allegations of bribery.
• Nortel Networks Inc. and affiliates in their U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings.
• HSBC in various parallel investigations being conducted by, among others, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the CFTC, and the DOJ, regarding allegations of manipulation and collusion in the foreign exchange markets.
• Pro bono Voting Rights Act litigation alleging at-large election method diluted the vote of the African-American voters in Jones County, North Carolina.
