Patrick M. Kane is an associate in Venable’s eCommerce, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Group in the firm’s Washington, DC office, where his practice focuses on advising companies on how to navigate global privacy and data security requirements while pursuing their business goals.
He regularly advises technology and media companies on managing privacy- and data security-related risks in corporate transactions. In addition, Patrick routinely represents clients before the FTC and other federal and state agencies with respect to privacy and data security related inquiries.
Patrick has assisted clients in developing commercial agreements that address privacy and security risks and legal compliance obligations. He has counseled clients on the data security practices of their strategic partners and vendors to safeguard clients’ valuable intellectual property and protect against data breaches.
Patrick has advised clients on compliance with evolving international data protection standards. Patrick has been designated as a Certified Information Privacy Professional by The International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Prior to attending law school, Patrick served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Kiribati. He also worked at the United Nations and at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
