Peter Gould, managing partner of our Denver office, works closely with federal and state regulatory agencies, Congress, the private sector and nongovernmental organizations to assist clients with matters involving administrative law, government investigations, litigation and dispute resolution, and public policy, including working with Congress to address federal agency matters affecting his clients.
Peter advises clients in a variety of areas, including energy, natural resources, transportation, environmental, and industrial health and safety. This includes providing the full range of legal representation and regulatory and legislative counseling and strategy development in conjunction with post-accident investigations, evidence and document collection.
He advises clients on appropriate media and government relations crisis communication plans immediately following such events to help minimize the negative impact of agency enforcement actions and civil and criminal actions that may result.
Peter’s mining and metals work spans the mining sector, representing and advising clients that produce and process silver, copper, iron ore, uranium, rare earth minerals, coal, limestone, potash, phosphate, trona, salt, bentonite and other industrial minerals, and aggregates.
He was designated Special Assistant Attorney General on a high profile environmental case that included a successful outcome after state versus state original jurisdiction litigation before the US Supreme Court.
He advises entities doing business locally, nationally and globally and provides representation nationally in litigation before federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations. During law school, Peter worked as a law clerk at the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine.
