
Peter Peng Zhou is a Patent Agent in the Atlanta office of Locke Lord LLP. Before joining Locke Lord, Dr. Zhou was a technical advisor at Merchant & Gould P.C., and a chief patent agent at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. Dr. Zhou counsels clients in intellectual property law, particularly in U.S. and international patent prosecution.
His current practice focuses on patent prosecution in the areas of biomedical engineering, medical physics and devices, physics, nanotechnology, material science, telecommunications, fiber optics, photonics and electronics, quantum communications and computations, optical, mechanical and electronic devices, semiconductors and software.
Dr. Zhou has prepared and prosecuted approximately 1,000 U.S. and international patent applications in a variety of areas, including nanotechnology, material science, biomedical engineering, medical physics and devices, telecommunications, laser physics, liquid crystal displays (LCDs), light emitting diodes (LEDs), semiconductors, optical, mechanical and electronic devices, and software. Dr. Zhou had more than 10 years of academic research and industrial R&D experience prior to his legal career.
In addition to private practice, he worked for Movaz Networks, Inc. (Norcross, Georgia) as a Senior Optical Engineer, Georgia Tech, The Queen’s University of Belfast (UK), Instituto de Estructura de la Materia, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) (Madrid, Spain), The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) (Trieste, Italy) as a Research Scientist, specializing in laser physics, photonics and quantum electronics, fiber optics, optical networking, quantum computer, quantum communications, modeling of complex systems, computer-aided measurements and automations, data acquisition and signal conditioning, and micro-electrical-mechanical systems (MEMS).
He has published more than 80 research articles in Physical Review Letters, Physical Review A and other leading academic research journals. Additionally, Dr. Zhou had also acted as referee for several leading academic research journals in physics and optics.
