
Effron Sharma Immigration was founded in 2007 by Rachel Effron Sharma. Before that, Ms. Effron Sharma worked for two other full service immigration law firms growing her knowledge and expertise. Ms. Effron Sharma always dreamed of having her own business; she comes from a family of immigrants who started a successful bakery supply business in pursuit of the American Dream.
She struck out on her own after four years in practice. After growing our client base and services from 2007 to 2014, Ms. Effron Sharma decided to go back to the roots of the firm. Today, we have a smaller and more select number of clients, but are able to provide high-level personalized service to clients. Clients are always considered like family, and clients’ struggles are also our struggles. Ms. Effron Sharma and her husband have also gone through the immigration process together; he becoming a US citizen in 2014.
Ms. Effron Sharma received her Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York at Binghamton in 1998. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ohio State University Law School in 2003 and was recognized as a public service fellow for her volunteer work in the community. She is admitted to practice law in Georgia and New Jersey, though because immigration law is a federal practice, she represents clients around the country and the world.
Ms. Effron Sharma practices exclusively in the area of U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law. Ms. Effron Sharma prepares family and employment based adjustment of status applications, naturalization applications, and all types of family and employment-based visa applications. Ms. Effron Sharma represents individuals at asylum, NACARA, adjustment of status, and naturalization interviews.
She also prepares all types of waiver applications and visa applications for consular processing. Ms. Effron Sharma assists clients in applying for work visas, investor visas, and has successfully prepared waivers of the 2-year foreign residency requirement for J-1 visa holders. Ms. Effron Sharma also successfully represents clients seeking Deferred Action under the Obama administration’s new programs.
Ms. Effron Sharma s a member of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association and has presented at numerous training sessions for attorneys for the Atlanta Bar Association and the local chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association. She has served as committee chair to the asylum office and litigation unit for a number of years.
She also served as co-chairperson on the board of directors of the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN), and has volunteered for Refugee Family Services in Stone Mountain, Georgia and Capital Area Immigration Rights (CAIR) Coalition in Washington DC. She has lobbied Congress for immigration reform and participated in volunteer activities including national citizenship day and Scott’s Memorial Run to benefit Catholic Charities immigrant children project.
Ms. Effron Sharma is currently a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Superior Court of Fulton County, the District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also has regularly practiced before the Executive Office for Immigration Review – this includes immigration courts nationwide and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
