Ramin Mohammad advises clients on project finance, tax, cross border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, dispositions and development involving the financing, purchase and sale of energy and infrastructure projects. Mr. Mohammad has experience advising private equity sponsors, venture capital funds, and companies in a wide array of industries, with a particular focus on the energy sector.Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Mohammad, who is a Certified Public Accountant, worked for the U.S. government at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
There he worked in the Office of Enforcement serving as senior auditor and lead audits related to compliance and enforcement of applicable energy laws as set forth by the Commission’s rules, orders, and regulations relating to energy market structures, activities, and participants. As well, Mr. Mohammad created recommendations for remedies to address violations and assist in pursuing remedies through negotiation or litigation.Before joining the FERC, Mr. Mohammad worked at Ernst and Young in their Core Assurance practice.
While at Ernst and Young, he worked predominantly with Fortune 500 companies with a focus on private equity companies in the United States, Asia, and South America As well, Mr. Mohammad taught as an adjunct professor at George Washington University, also as an instructor for the Certified Public Accountant exam, and has engaged in some entrepreneurial start-up companies.
Mr. Mohammad received his B.S. in Commerce with a focus in Accounting and Finance from the University of Virginia, his M.S. in Accounting with a focus in Audit and Taxation from the University of Virginia, and his J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America.
He is a member of the State Bar of California, State Bar of Virginia, State Bar of the District of Columbia, and Virginia Board of Accountancy.
