Rashad Simmons

Rashad Simmons is an associate in the Chicago office of Lewis Brisbois. Rashad has experience in all phases of litigation, from motion practice to depositions and trial. Rashad concentrates his practice on the defense of complex civil and commercial litigation, including products liability, intellectual property, and employment litigation. He also has experience handling breach of contract, premises liability, and insurance litigation matters in state and federal courts.

Rashad’s employment practice focuses on single and multi-plaintiff claims of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act and other state and local statutes as well as claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act and other state and local wage and hour laws.

Rashad often represents clients in proceedings before state and federal courts, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Illinois Department of Human Rights. His experience spans the entire spectrum of litigation, including discrimination charges, position statements, pre-trial investigation, settlement negotiation, discovery, and trial.

Rashad earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School where he competed on the moot court and trial advocacy teams. While in law school, Rashad strengthened his legal acumen by clerking at the Wisconsin Supreme Court and United States Department of Justice.

Rashad graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University with a degree in business. Prior to starting his legal career, Rashad worked as a marking analyst at the corporate office of a global hospitality company based in Chicago, Illinois
