Raymond Tolentino

Raymond P. Tolentino focuses his practice on appellate and complex litigation, and on providing strategic counseling to clients appearing before state and federal tribunals. Mr. Tolentino has represented clients at all stages of litigation, and has authored briefs and motions on a wide range of issues, including federal jurisdiction, federal energy regulation, administrative law, civil procedure, election law, sovereign immunity, civil rights law, attorney discipline, employee retirement benefits, habeas corpus, the First Amendment, and federal preemption.

Mr. Tolentino has served as the principal author of briefs filed in the U.S. Supreme Court and the federal courts of appeals, counseled clients on matters in federal and state trial courts, and successfully argued an appeal on behalf of a civil rights plaintiff in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In addition, Mr. Tolentino maintains an active and wide-ranging pro bono practice and teaches Advanced Legal Writing as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Tolentino served as a law clerk for Justice Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Cornelia T.L. Pillard on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Judge M. Margaret McKeown on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Mr. Tolentino graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2012, where he was the recipient of the Francis E. Lucey, S.J. Award, the Senior Articles Editor of The Georgetown Law Journal, a law fellow and a senior writing fellow for the Legal Research and Writing Program, and a member of the moot court team.  During law school, Mr. Tolentino also served as an intern in the Civil Division and Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Mr. Tolentino received his undergraduate degree in English, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University, where he was the recipient of the Lynch Pendergast Medal, a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Societies, and the College Marshal for the Bachelor of Arts.
