
Rayner (Ray) V. Snead Jr. has more than 40 years’ experience in serving corporate clients and individuals in litigation and transactional matters. His background as a civil engineer and surveyor has served him well in his general practice which has an emphasis on commercial and residential real estate.
Ray’s extensive and diverse experience allows him to assist owners, developers, buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants on both routine and complex real estate and development issues.
He has experience in acquisitions and sales; construction contracts; site plans and survey reviews; zoning, special use permits, easements, and restrictive covenants; commercial leasing; local, state, and federal regulatory compliance; institutional and equity financing; title services; contractor and subcontractor issues; lien claims and avoidance; real property disputes; and dispute resolution.
Ray graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He joined the Lynchburg law firm of Edmunds & Williams in 1972, and became a member of Woods Rogers when the two firms merged in October 2016.
Ray holds a Distinguished® Peer Review rating from Martindale-Hubbell®. Ray served proudly in the United States Army and is a Vietnam War veteran. He has been married to his wife, Mollie, for more than 48 years and is a proud parent and grandparent. Golf, turkey hunting, and travel are his favorite distractions from the practice of law.
He also has a particular fascination with the island of Bequia in the Southern Caribbean, which he visits each year.
