Rebecca Armstrong

Rebecca Armstrong is a Dallas divorce attorney that sees her job as conflict management, from start to finish. Practicing primarily in Dallas and Collin counties, she routinely helps people find the best solutions for their divorce, child custody actions, modifications of prior custody orders, and collaborative law cases. She also specializes in courtroom advocacy, including hearings, jury and bench trials. Rebecca is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

I have seen too many cases where clients have hired me after firing their first attorney because they felt they were giving too much for too little. In most of these cases, the problem is usually that the initial lawyer and the client never sat down to figure out the client’s actual goals throughout the divorce.”

This is especially true when it comes to property division, an area that Ms. Armstrong deals with routinely. She has extensive experience in cases involving a range of estates: from common estates, to large estates with complex assets, including tracing separate property, family-limited partnerships, and family-owned businesses.

Rebecca Armstrong’s objective in these cases is to keep the client mindful of the economic ramifications associated with the various strategic goals throughout the divorce. “I make sure the client understands the options, so that he or she can make an educated, financially intelligent decision.”

While Ms. Armstrong has plenty of success obtaining quick and advantageous settlements for her clients, her experience in trial advocacy is just as impressive. Rebecca has successfully argued and tried issues of custody and property division for her clients. Trial advocacy became a passion for Rebecca while obtaining her Bachelor of Communications at Texas A&M University, and continued through her graduation from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, where she was selected for the Mock Trial team.

In one memorable case, Ms. Armstrong convinced a Texas judge to take jurisdiction of a case involving a mom and child who live in Dallas and a father who lives in California. By understanding an extremely complex legal issue and arguing it passionately­–against an attorney with 20 years more experience–Ms. Armstrong was able to save her client the difficulty of going to another state and the expense of hiring an attorney to maintain the possession schedule.

In addition, Rebecca Armstrong serves on the Board of Directors for the Collin County Young Lawyers Association, and is president-elect (2014) for the organization. In this capacity, Ms. Armstrong organizes outreach to students and provides mentorship to incoming Collin County area young lawyers, meanwhile planning events that encourage their members to interact with the Collin County judiciary. Rebecca is also a member of the Curt B. Henderson Inn of Court, along with members of the Collin County Judiciary and prominent Collin County family law attorneys and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Ms. Armstrong is also trained in the area of collaborative law and is a member of the Collaborative Professionals of Dallas, a collaborative law practice group. Through her collaborative law practice group Rebecca meets with and discusses with other professionals the advances in collaborative law as well as discussing how to make the process more efficient and cost effective for their clients.
