
Richard D. Kirk (Dick) is a director at Bayard. He focuses on general business litigation, intellectual property litigation, administrative law, and alternative dispute resolution.
After graduating from law school, Dick clerked for Justice William Duffy of the Delaware Supreme Court, one of the founding members of the firm that is now Bayard. Dick subsequently served as full-time counsel to the State Board of Education and then worked for and became a partner at another Wilmington firm.
Dick was president of the Delaware State Bar Association from 1993 to 1994. He was founding Chair of that Association’s Environmental Law Section and he has also chaired the Association’s Intellectual Property Section. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and its Intellectual Property Law and Litigation Sections.
Dick is now a member of the Delaware District Court Rules Advisory Committee. He chaired a special committee of the Superior Court investigating that court’s asbestos and toxic tort docket.
Dick is past Chair of the Delaware Supreme Court’s Commission on Continuing Legal Education, past President of the Board of Directors of Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, and past member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Bar Foundation.
Dick has been recognized as a leading attorney in the field of intellectual property in Delaware by Chambers USA since 2006.
