Robert Cox is a trial attorney with more than twenty years of experience in the litigation of several business cases in different courts all over the nation. Robert’s extensive experience includes a wide variety of issues relating to antitrust, securities, contracts, intellectual property, real estate, business torts and white collar criminal matters. He has provided representation to several clients in class actions, enforcement actions, multigovernment -district litigation (MDLs), private business disputes, and various appeals before federal and state courts.

Robert has sufficient experience as a manager of all of the litigation proceeding of a telecommunications company for many years. He managed over 100 different sort of litigation in courts across the United States. The telecommunications company included a forum selection provision in its contracts selecting the federal court in Alexandria and the Fairfax Circuit Court as the location for most of its cases.

Mr. Cox was not only actively involved in the management of cases but also in the litigation of most of the issues ranging from examination of witnesses at trial and hearings, conducting and defending depositions, debating important motions (like dismissal and summary judgment), and preparing briefs and pleadings. Bob also possesses extensive experience in the enforcement of securities and regulatory issues affecting auditors and accounting companies.

Mr. Bob Cox often provide legal representation to accounting companies, companies, corporate officers and directors, and professionals in the financial industry on civil, criminal, and regulatory matters, including enforcement and investigations suits before the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Additionally, Bob handles internal investigations and offers compliance counseling to forestall these investigations.  He provides representation to accountants and accounting companies in matters of professional malpractice.

Bob is actively a member of the Virginia State Bar. He was elected as a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Disciplinary Sub-Committee for the Fifth District since 2018. Bob has also actively participates in the Fairfax Bar Association, working in its Circuit Court Committee and Continuing Legal Education Committee.

Before working at Briglia Hundley, Bob worked for over six years as an Assistant Director in the Division of Enforcement and Investigations of PCAOB. During his time at the PCAOB, he conducted several investigations on enforcement and disciplinary matters against auditors and both domestic and international accounting firm. Some of the matters involve the Big Four and other Global Network accounting corporation.  He also directed enforcement issues with the SEC, FINRA, and other foreign regulatory agancies.

Prior to working at the PCAOB, he served as a partner at the biggest litigation-focused law office in the U.S. handling difficult antitrust, securities, and commercial cases.

Mr. Cox has written many articles and treatises chapters on issues that involves securities, antitrust, and litigation. For instance, he co-authored a work on “Chapter 11, Securities Damages in Boushie, Spadea, & Cunniff, Calculating and Proving Damages” (Law Journal Press 2011), a foremost treatise on damages. Bob has also written the book titled Chapter 6, Collateral Estoppel and Prima Facie Effect, Antitrust Evidence Handbook, Third Edition (ABA 2016).

Mr. Bob Cox has extensive experience in lecturing trial advocacy, training litigators in matters of depositions, examining expert witnesses, and direct /cross-examination at trial. Additionally, he has occasionally spoken at professional seminars, training workshops, and continuing legal education courses, including the FBI Academy at Quantico, VA and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
