Robert (Rob) Lafayette is counsel in the Construction Practice Group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Atlanta office. Mr. Lafayette’s practice is largely construction-focused involving the representation of developers, contractors, construction managers, and subcontractors in all facets of their business (administrative best practices, contract drafting and negotiation, delay and extra work claims, mechanic’s lien and bond claims, etc.).
Mr. Lafayette also has experience representing sureties in payment and performance bond matters and insurers in construction-related matters. He has also represented community associations and is experienced in governance, drafting and amendment of governing documents, and covenant enforcement matters.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Lafayette spent eight years working for an Atlanta-based general contractor on new construction and renovation projects in a variety of sectors, including, telecommunications, K-12, higher education, and government. As a result, Mr. Lafayette brings to his clients over 15 years of construction and litigation experience.
