Robert Meyers practices in the areas of ethics and governance, and is the immediate past Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust. As the Ethics Commission’s chief executive officer for the last thirteen years, Robert oversaw all operations, including enforcement, advice-giving and training/education.
While heading the Ethics Commission, he drafted hundreds of ethics opinions, while analyzing State, county and municipal ethics codes. Moreover, Robert assisted in the drafting of model ethics codes and amendments to existing ethics codes in Miami-Dade County and across the State of Florida.
Robert Meyers Under his watch, the Ethics Commission was identified as one of the model local ethics commissions in the country, and received many accolades for its innovative programming and outreach activities, from such organizations as Transparency International, the National Association of Counties, and the National League of Cities.
Robert frequently lectures on the topics of ethics, governance and leadership, and has published several articles and treatises. He has been a panelist at many local, state and national conferences sponsored by the National League of Cities, the Florida League of Cities, the American Bar Association, the Florida Municipal Attorneys Association, the National Institute of Government Purchasers and COGEL.
Prior to his appointment as the Ethics Commission’s Executive Director, he was a professor at Florida International University and the University of Tennessee, where he taught courses in law, ethics and government. Before joining the Ethics Commission, Robert practiced at a Fort Lauderdale firm where he concentrated in labor and employment and administrative law.
