Robert L. Smith, a shareholder and a principal attorney at Litwin & Smith, has been practicing corporate law since 1986. He graduated from the University of California, Berkley, received his law degree from Gonzaga School of Law, and his LLM in Transnational Business and Taxation from McGeorge School of Law.
Throughout his legal career he has focused on the needs frequently encountered by up and coming companies whose employees have entered through the emigration process, entity formation, contract development and negotiation, and federal/state employee relations.
Having an attorney who understands the unique needs of the immigration process and business growth is the foundation to building a successful business strategy in today’s world. Clarity of goals and needs is essential in this fast-paced economy if high-growth is to be achieved.
Mr. Smith understands that each client is unique, and there isn’t a one-size-fits-all pattern for success. He takes the steps needed, the time needed, and utilizes the strategies needed that result in client satisfaction and success. He offers real life answers to today’s business needs, international and national.
Mr. Smith understands the complexities of business formation and development because for twenty years of his career prior to Litwin & Smith, he structured business strategies from the ground up for himself as well as clientele.
He, also, represented non-profits from the initial concept phase through full-blown implementation as a business entity. He has negotiated loan terms and documentation with financial institutions, drafted contracts, U.C.C. filings and other legal documents.
Prior to taking a position as a corporate counsel, he worked for the California Department of Agriculture drafting proposals. As part of his Transnational Business Master’s, Mr. Smith interned in Leeds, England, with a group of barristers, and at Gonzaga School of Law he worked as a clerk for the Washington State Court of Appeals.
