Ronald C. Hausmann is a partner in the San Francisco office of Munger, Tolles & Olson. Mr. Hausmann’s practice focuses extensively on hazardous waste problems, from finding ways to sell and develop contaminated properties, to responding to state and federal Superfund demands. He has a national reputation for helping parties find cost-effective and acceptable site remedies.
Mr. Hausmann has successfully designed and used innovative Alternative Dispute Resolution processes to resolve environmental disputes without litigation. During 1999-2001, he also served as an environmental consultant to the United Nations Compensation Commission to assess damages resulting from the first Iraqi war.
Mr. Hausmann began practicing environmental law in 1973, when he began working at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. In 1979, he joined the Land and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice as a trial attorney. Since entering private practice in California in 1981, Mr. Hausmann has represented major corporations in a wide variety of environmental matters, including civil and criminal enforcement actions. Mr. Hausmann lectures frequently on environmental law.
