
Ruben D. Escalante is a partner in the Labor and Employment and Business Trial Practice Group. He is a team leader of the firm’s self-storage industry team, and a member of the firm’s pro bono committee. He practices throughout California as a litigator and consultant.
Mr. Escalante specializes in representing clients in complex business litigation, labor and employment matters, and class actions as a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment and Business Trial Practice Groups.
Mr. Escalante also has significant courtroom experience, including jury trial experience. As a member of the Labor and Employment Group, Mr. Escalante provides frequent counsel to employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations, litigation prevention, and civil litigation and trials.
He represents only management, and has experience defending employers in both state and federal courts and agencies in multiple areas of employment law, including wage and hour class actions, breach of contract, claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination, defamation, and other related matters.
As a member of the Business Trial Practice Group, Mr. Escalante handles a wide range of complex civil litigation in both state and federal courts. Mr. Escalante has experience handling large consumer class action lawsuits, arbitrations, shareholder derivative actions, purchase price adjustment disputes, breach of contract claims, and other related matters.
Mr. Escalante’s class action experience includes significant matters impacting the storage industry. For example, Mr. Escalante defeated class certification in an action alleging lien sale violations, and secured a federal court ruling that could preclude class certification in similar actions in the future.
Mr. Escalante regularly provides pro bono services, is a Board Member of the Public Service Law Corporation, was President of the Federal Bar Association—Inland Empire Chapter, was a Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference Lawyer Representative.
