Ryan Clark is a patent attorney and associate in the Austin office and a member of the Intellectual Property Department. Mr. Clark helps clients protect their ideas, designs, brands and expressions through a focused practice centered on patent and trademark litigation, patent and trademark prosecution, and counseling.
Mr. Clark represents clients in federal court patent and trademark litigation including cases involving multiple patents and multiple defendants. From a counseling and prosecution perspective, he has experience managing the patent process from ideation through enforcement, including managing global patent and trademark portfolios and building clients’ internal patent processes.
He also counsels companies in intellectual property due diligence for M&A transactions. Although his practice is focused on patents and trademarks, he has experience in all areas of intellectual property, including design patents (both domestic and International Design Applications), trade dress, unfair competition, copyright, and advertising.
For example, Mr. Clark advises clients on compliance with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines and assist clients with responses to Federal Trade Commission inquiries regarding advertising claims.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Clark held a variety of engineering, technical management and consulting positions. Mr. Clark was president and co-founder of a technology startup providing software and hardware products for item-level inventory control.
He also served as technical director for a privately held environmental consulting firm, where he prepared and managed various air, water and waste permit applications across the country.
He also served as an environmental permit specialist for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where he reviewed and issued air permit applications and advised management on technical matters and policy guidance.
