Ryan W. Fuoss is a Litigation & Dispute Resolution associate in Mayer Brown’s Chicago office with experience in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters working for publicly and privately held companies, utilities, financial institutions, individuals, and civic organizations.
He briefs and argues cases before state and federal courts, trial and appellate, and represents clients before arbitral tribunals and in governmental and internal investigations. As part of his internal investigation work, Ryan works with clients to develop policies and procedures to resolve present issues and to minimize ongoing enterprise risk.
His civil practice focuses on litigation matters involving financial services, securities, products liability, purchase and sale agreement disputes, and general business and commercial litigation.
Ryan focuses a significant portion of his practice on working with in-house counsel to manage separate but related litigation on clients’ behalf, including developing overall strategy for dozens of actions, coordinating day-to-day work of outside counsel, and working out vendor contracts and expert engagement agreements. This includes managing all stages of the litigations, from document holds and collections through negotiated settlements.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2011, Ryan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert Holmes Bell of the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
