Ryan M. Mott is an associate in Venable’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice in the New York office. Ryan, an electrical engineer and registered patent attorney, has a unique educational background, which also includes coursework in organic chemistry and undergraduate research in bioelectronics.
As a result, he has represented a wide variety of clients across the pharma and tech industries and has litigated patents from a diverse set of technological areas, including those covering cryptographic security devices and protocols; methods of statistical sampling of financials; graphical user interfaces; and computerized fitness methods; as well as bioelectrical medical devices; pharmaceuticals for the treatment of HIV; large-scale methods of organic synthesis; and agricultural fungicides.
In these fields, Ryan has represented plaintiffs and defendants in various federal courts across the United States from the earliest stages to trial and final appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and petitioners and patent owners before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in petitions for inter partes review.
In addition to Ryan’s patent litigation practice, he has counseled on patent prosecution and transactional matters and has litigated false advertising matters, trademark disputes, gray-market product diversion cases involving medical devices and corporate contractual disputes within the large commercial vehicle industry.
Previously, Ryan served as a fellow with the World Intellectual Property Organization, where he focused on issues involving alleged copyright infringement, employment matters, and international compliance.
