
S. Zubin Gautam is a senior associate who focuses his practice on a variety of complex litigation matters. Dr. Gautam was a summer associate at WilmerHale in 2014. Before joining the firm, he was a research assistant to Professor Pamela Samuelson at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
In that role, he conducted research analyzing the scope of exclusive rights in copyright law, focusing on US copyright law’s strict-liability infringement regime and the role of commercial harm in infringement liability. While at Berkeley Law, Dr. Gautam also worked as an advisor for the Law and Technology Writing Workshop.
Prior to attending law school, Dr. Gautam served on the faculty of Indiana University, Bloomington as a Zorn Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics. His mathematical research focused on harmonic and functional analysis, with an emphasis on time-frequency analysis.
Dr. Gautam has published four mathematical research papers, and he has taught numerous courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also worked as a Graduate Student Instructor in the University of California, Berkeley mathematics department while attending law school.
