Salomon Laguerre is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Atlanta office. Mr. Laguerre represents many of the nation’s leading companies in employment related matters in both state and federal courts. His practice includes counseling and representing clients on a wide range of employment issues including discrimination, wage and hour, wrongful termination, as well as disputes arising out of non-compete agreements.
Mr. Laguerre also routinely represents clients in proceedings before federal agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor, and regularly handles employment-related transactional matters including drafting and analyzing employment agreements, separation agreements, and company policies.
After completing law school, Mr. Laguerre served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mary S. Scriven in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. As a judicial law clerk, he managed a high-volume civil and criminal docket, drafted orders, advised the judge on legal issues and assisted the judge during hearings, trials and other proceedings. Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Mr. Laguerre worked as a Labor & Employment associate at another international law firm.
An immigrant himself, Mr. Laguerre has a strong interest in providing services pro bono to the less fortunate, particularly to immigrants who need help navigating the complex legal system here in the United States. As part of his pro bono efforts, he assists undocumented, unaccompanied minor children in obtaining legal status and other social services. He also visits immigration detention centers to ensure that detainees are being treated humanely. He also routinely assists local non-profit organizations with employment related issues on a pro bono basis.
Mr. Laguerre serves on the board of directors of several organizations, including Heart-In-Haiti, which operates a school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as well as Everybody Wins! Atlanta, an organization whose mission is to improve literacy among elementary school aged children in inner-city Atlanta.
Mr. Laguerre also serves as an Adjunct Professor for Florida State University College of Law where he teaches a course titled “Conducting Workplace Investigations” as part of the law school’s Juris Masters program. Mr. Laguerre serves a volunteer soccer coach for Inter Atlanta FC. Mr. Laguerre is fluent in Haitian Creole and is conversational in French.
