Sameer P. Sheikh is an associate in Venable’s Commercial Litigation Practice in the Washington, DC office. He is experienced in representing clients in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts.
Prior to joining Venable, Sameer practiced law at Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick PLLC. He was a member of the litigation team that obtained a $347 million judgment in a False Claims Act case against a major healthcare company.
Sameer successfully defended a former president of an insurance company in a complex commercial dispute and fraud case that resulted in the mid-trial dismissal of all claims against the client. He also assisted in the defense of a global custody bank against civil fraud lawsuits brought by the United States and the State of New York.
Sameer is a 2013 graduate of Boston College Law School. While in law school, he served as an intern in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He was also an intern in the Insurance and Financial Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Massachusetts. Prior to law school, Sameer spent four years in international microfinance.
