Samuel J. Olswanger guides clients through the numerous complex regulations covering federal, state and local lobbyist registration provisions, campaign finance guidance, gift laws and pay-to-play restrictions. Mr. Olswanger also represents clients before Congress and third-party advocacy groups on a variety of domestic policy issues, working with them to create and execute effective legislative strategies.
Mr. Olswanger has spent several years operating across a variety of sectors in the political environment. During the 2010 election cycle, he worked for a well-known Super PAC and outside issue-advocacy group to elect a Republican majority in the House of Representatives. After the election cycle, Mr. Olswanger joined the legislative staff of then newly elected Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL).
Prior to joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Mr. Olswanger worked for a public relations, lobbying and business consulting firm, where his focus was on assisting clients with coalition-building and domestic policy issues, including corporate tax reform and for-profit education.Mr. Olswanger graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University. While attending GWU, he interned in the House of Representatives for Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
